It's like having a 12k fresnel at a third the size and weight. Easy enough for 1 electrician to mount on a stand. The Arri M40 takes up less room on a set and on a grip truck. It's not a par light, no hot lenses to handle or drop and break. Also no additional lens case is needed.
Like all members of the M-Series, the M40 /2 5 is a 4,000w HMI Light that unifies the advantages of a PAR light and a Fresnel fixture. Due to the unique lerns-less ArriMax Technology, the unit is open face and thus very bright, but also focusable over a range of 18-52 degree HPA, casting a crisp shadow. The reflector characteristics is optimised for 4000W lamps, but can also be used with 2500W lamps.
A member of the ARRI M Series, the M40/25 is a lens-less system that unifies the advantages of a Fresnel and a PAR fixture.
The unit is open face and thus very bright: around 30% brighter than an ARRISUN in spot. Due to its unique, patented MAX Technology reflector, it is also focussable over a range of 18-52° HPA. The M40/25 gives a remarkably even beam spread that casts crisp shadows over the whole focus range. The reflector characteristics is optimised for 4000 W lamps, but can also be used with 2500 W lamps.
The elimination of heavy but fragile spread lenses makes the lamphead ideal for rough location use, speeds up the work flow and reduces total cost of ownership.
The lamphead is equipped with a CCL module (compensation for cable loss). When operated with the new ARRI EB 2.5/4 kW with CCL, full power is maintained all the way to the lamp even when very long cables are used. This means uniformly high light output independent from cable length.
The High Speed Ballast when combined with the popular
M-Series M40 lamphead, the EB 2.5/4 HS
AutoScan ballast enables a faster and simpler
way of working on set ? at any frame rate.
For high-speed operation three different modes are available: AutoScan (fully automatic),
Man (manual frequency control) or AutoMan (combining manual frequency setting with
automatic frequency control). Using the AutoScan mode requires no further interaction by
an operator. After a two-stage scan the lamp frequency is selected and set by the ballast; all
parameters are continuously monitored and adjusted automatically if required.
