BarnDoor Lighting Outfitters was founded in 1995 by Kerry Lombard, an experienced Connecticut gaffer, and his partner, Catherine Lombard. Right from the beginning, our primary goal was, and continues to be, making it easier for production professionals to purchase lighting, grip, electrical equipment and supplies from a single, specialized, knowledgeable and service-oriented resource---24 hours a day. To deliver on our commitment, we launched our popular web store in 1995--http://www.filmandvideolighting.com, and have been building on our promise ever since. That’s a lot of orders!

While BarnDoor Lighting Outfitters has expanded since 1995, we are still a small business that offers “big” service. That’s what sets us apart. For us, it isn’t just good marketing, it is who we are. Our customer’s tell us we provide “old-fashioned” service that is hard to find these days.

Because of our commitment to our customers, we've earned the Google Trusted Store designation, we have a 99% customer satisfaction rating from Reseller Ratings, and a 5-Star Rating from Shopper Approved, both live, independent, customer-directed rating services. BarnDoor Lighting Outfitters is also an approved government vendor, as well as a certified "Small Business Enterprise" by the State of Connecticut.

People often ask us why we named the company BarnDoor Lighting Outfitters. We tell them that the name, in part, refers to the “barn doors” you see on most film and video lighting fixtures. But “barn door” also refers to a “place of supply”… your go to place for film, video, stage and photo lighting equipment and supplies.

At Barndoor Lighting Outfitters we don't offer live inventory on our website. Be assured we do carry a large inventory! However, we can't carry every item our manufacturers' sell if we want to offer great prices and provide great service. At Barndoor Lighting, we want our order processing to meet the individual needs of our customers. That means we need to be flexible on how we ship each order. If we can ship an order directly from a manufacturer and have it reach our customer more quickly, we will do so.
