Good Frame Equipment, not a pretty as Matthews
July 18, 2015
I am an individual who makes photographs and movies, and I was looking to learn how to use overhead frames. I wanted round tube frames as from an engineering stand point, cylinders are stronger than square tubing. I also need the frame to fit in my sedan. So I decided to go with these Modern studio corners, couplings and ears, which allows me to carry 8 six foot lengths of tubing instead of 12 foot sections. I liked the Modern Studio components as they were round, 1" diameter (which is a naming convention, as the outside diameter is actually closer to 1.3") and the price was nice. Lets face it the chrome plated finish on Matthews is prettier, but it comes with a much heftier price tag. When I purchased all the Modern Studio equipment fittings, and got tubing from a local hardware store, I still got 2 frames for less than the price of a Matthews frame. If you are a pro (then my amateur review is probably not new information) and you need to look high end, get Matthews. If you're like me and need something functional and cost effective, them these Modern Studio Equipment Fittings are perfect.
Cons
- Needs a tool to construct frame
