Compared to the competitors of Matthews and Chimera these are great especially when you factor in the cost. Chimeras are still the most portable by a long shot and Matthews though more sturdy and functional then Chimera they lack the collapsed footprint you look for in a kit like this. These split the difference while still being cheaper then both by 100-200 bucks. The only thing I'd say is that they lack stability without a cloth attached. So if you want to just fly a gel you may want to look else where. That being said Advantage sells flags for nearly every kind of diffusion/scrim/bounce imaginable so you wont have problems there.

and by instability I mean if they are upside down or in the wind the internal bungee cord may not be strong enough to hold the heavy weighted steel tubing in place without the flag pulling it all together.

One last thing when using stechy fabrics such as scrims the provided touch fasteners on the scrims are not enough to hold it tight so it gets a little misshapen and does not fill the frame, easily fixed my adding more.

Advantage Grip has come up with a 4x4 kit that caters to those who travel. I typically work out of my SUV and traditional 4x4s wont fit. This 4x4 kit has come in handy job after job. I suggest adding a frost and bounce rags to the kit.
